The Artist Lens
“Discovering the wonder in the everyday world leads to a deeper understanding of its significance. Through the artistic perspective, we unveil the hidden beauty that exists in even the most ordinary things.”
Hello, I'm Holli, Artist, Wife, Mom of 3 fun, creative kiddos and one sweet doodle pup.
As an artist, I'm drawn to multiple themes of nature and everyday life such as landscapes, botanicals, birds, still life and portraits. Exploring these subjects at times in realistic interpretations or through an abstract perspective gives my creative work freedom to flow purely. Though my subjects and techniques are often shifting I continually return to the importance of finding joy and interest in the overlooked, divine beauty all around us. Whether its the way a soft watercolor line can create boldness through composition or the play of movement by the proximity of shapes, texture and tone my creative practice drives me to be open and perceptive. I paint and create to celebrate the joys of seeing the unique revealed from the ordinary.
The Journey
“The ability to create and express myself was ignited and indulged in my free-range upbringing.”
I grew up in Western Pennsylvania where my parents always encouraged me to be creative and innovative. I endlessly explored outside, climbing trees, building forts, inventing contraptions of sticks and leaves, always wanting to display my creations. Sketchbooks and art supplies directed my passion as I discovered a deep connection to watching my imagination flow from hand, unfolding onto paper in what felt like magic.
My formal education is in Graphic Design from The Art Institute of Pittsburgh where I earned a Bachelors of Science. Working as a Graphic Designer offered such an impact on my understanding of how good design and the visual arts have the power to enrich and elevate our daily lives in truly amazing ways.
Spending more time at home as a new mom is when my passion to adorn our space with pieces of art that brought beauty and meaning into our home began a shift in my artistic journey. This perceived importance of the daily dwelling, where our life's stories are played out shaped the focus of my work, back to the practice of my first love, studio art. The free flow of painting with brush in hand and experimenting with different mediums and subjects guides my process. This is where you'll find me now, in the studio or outdoors, creating original pieces that bring joy, connection and inspiration into your home, to tell your beautiful story.
The name Herald Studio reflects this endeavor of bringing the good news of joy, hope and beauty but above all to glorify the ultimate source of every beautiful thing, our Creator.
